Technology
One sensor, one radio network, one dashboard.
The sensor only detects "occupied" or "free". Data travels over a dedicated radio network and mobile data straight to thingdust – bypassing your corporate network.
1 · Sensor
One passive infrared sensor per desk or room. It only sees heat that moves – no images, no faces.
- Mounting
- double-sided tape or magnet, no drilling
- Battery
- 2 × CR123, four years or more, replaceable yourself
- Use
- desks, meeting rooms, phone booths, lounges
2 · Radio network
The sensors transmit via LoRa to one gateway per floor. The gateway sends via mobile data. It only needs a power socket.
- Your IT
- no Wi-Fi, no LAN, no firewall rules
- Security
- sensors have no internet access, they only send measurements
- Range
- one gateway usually covers one floor
3 · Dashboard
Analysis and live view in the browser, on any device. Access via e-mail link, no password. Reports by e-mail on request.

Understand how the office is really used.
Heatmaps and histograms
Occupancy over days, weeks and hours, on the floor plan and as a distribution.
Bottleneck analysis
Where does it overflow on peak days, where can you cut back?

What happens if you remove desks, merge teams or grow?
Rooms sized right
How many people actually sit in the meeting room for eight?
Reports by e-mail

Installation
Ready to go in one day.
You provide floor plans and a contact person on site. We take care of the rest.
Plans and assignment
From your existing drawings (PDF, DWG) we create the digital floor plans and define which sensor goes on which desk.
Sensors and gateways
Two people install at roughly 2–3 minutes per sensor. One gateway per floor, plugged into a socket.
Function test
We check every sensor in the dashboard before we leave.
Removal or carry on
After an Analysis we remove everything. Or the sensors stay on as a live display.
Integrations
What partners add.
Xovis people counters count people in open areas such as workshops and entrance areas. For the 3V ROOMS booking system by microfast and the V:SCOUT room information system, thingdust sensors provide the occupancy.
